Kim McNellis
Job Title
Unnata Aerial Yoga Instructor
Speaker Bio
Kim discovered yoga in 1999 to supplement her running routine with “stretching”. Her practice began with hatha yoga - one year later, she found myself drawn to the Baptiste and Ashtanga yoga styles - both appealed to her desire to sweat and “get a workout” since she was no longer running due to knee and joint pain. Kim appreciated how yoga helped to calm her mind and awaken her intuition – strengthening her capacity to make good and wise decisions on and off the mat. Yoga serves as a conduit to connect with herself on a deeper level - what the mind does not know, the body and breath will show! After 10 years of focusing on her personal yoga journey and practicing several other styles – Iyengar, Yin, Restorative, Vinyasa, Aerial, Kundalini, Anusara, Jivamukti - Kim felt the calling to begin sharing this gift of yoga with others and subsequently completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training with Maureen Priest of Moyo Yoga in March 2013. Kim continued her yoga education and became certified in Unnata Aerial Yoga in January 2018 and completed her 500-hour Yoga Teacher training in June 2020 under the auspices of the Himalayan Institute and June Hunt of Moondog Yoga. Kim’s classes consist of a mindful, slow flow to move and transition with grace from one posture to the next with love, lightness, and laughter. Music, essential oils, gentle hands-on assists, and spiritual/motivational passage readings are other elements she likes to weave throughout the practice. When Kim is not on the mat, you will find her with her rescue dog – Willow, anywhere in nature, traveling the globe or vegging at home reading a mystery novel or binge watching a tv series.
