Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military & veterans families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital.

These homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the world.

Fisher Houses have up to 21 suites, with private bedrooms and baths. Families share a common kitchen, laundry facilities, a warm dining room and an inviting living room. Since inception, the program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $407 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

The Scholarships for Military Children Program was created in recognition of the contributions of military families to the readiness of the fighting force and to celebrate the role of the commissary in the military family community. It is the intent of the program that a scholarship funded through contributions be awarded annually for each commissary operated by the Defense Commissary Agency worldwide.

A total of 700 scholarship grants, each for $2,000, were awarded for school year 2018-19. There was at least one recipient selected at every commissary location where qualified applications were received, and additional recipients were selected based on a prorate basis, so more applicants were selected from those commissaries with larger numbers of applicants. *
